Vice-President Zhang Dan Attended the 16th East Asian Seminar
on the UN System
The 16th East Asian Seminar on the UN System, hosted by Korean Academic Council on the United Nations System, was held in Changnyeong County, ROK from 13 to 15 October 2016. Ms.Zhang Dan, Secretary-General of China Academic Net for UN Studies (CANUNS), Vice-President and Director-General of the UNA-China, headed the Chinese delegation to attend the Seminar.
The seminar was held with the theme of Strategic Approaches to Building Sustainable Peace in Northeast Asia from the UN’s Perspective. Over 60 experts from Korea, China, Japan and Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) attended the Seminar and discussed in depth on Peace and Stability in Korean Peninsula and the Role of the United Nations, Enhancement of Regional Consultation and Cooperation among East Asian Countries for UN Peace Operations, East Asian Challenges for Human Rights, Sustainable Development and Peace: Global Agenda and Regional Solution, Integrating the Respects for Universal and Local Cultural Traditions and Values in Global Governance, Global Citizenship Education: Respects for Diverse Perspectives and Responses.
The East Asian Seminar on the UN System was initiated in 2012. The 17th seminar will be held in Japan next year.
