UNA-China held Meeting for UN Resolution on Fighting against Illegal Trade of Wild Life
On September 25th 2015, the meeting on UN Resolution on fighting against illegal trade of wild life was co-organized by the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), the Wildlife Trade Monitoring Network (TRAFFIC) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Mr. Liu Zhixian, Vice-President and Director-General of the UNA-China, addressed the meeting. About 50 officials from Chinese Foreign Ministry, Chinese Agriculture Ministry and other government departments, experts and officials from Embassies of the U.S., U.K., EU and other countries joined the meeting.
Mr. Liu said, the Resolution adopted by UN General Assembly on July 30th this year shows that the international community has reached a consensus on the fight against illegal trade of wild animals and plants. China, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, attaches great importance and has been taking practical measures to the ecological protection. The UNA-China is willing to actively promote international cooperation and make contributions to the implementation of the UN Resolutions in China.
At the meeting, the participants discussed on the significance and role of the UN resolutions, challenges UN faces and efforts China has been making in the fight against illegal trade of wild life.
