State Councilor Yang Jiechi Met With Board Members of the South Center
On November 10th 2015, State Councilor Mr. Yang Jiechi met with H.E. Mr. Benjamin William MKAPA, Chairman of the Board of the South Center and former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and other Board members. Mr. Yang spoke highly of the South Center, which is an important think tank of developing countries and plays an important role in the promotion of South-South cooperation and strengthening North-South cooperation. He stressed that China attaches great importance to the critical work of the South Center for supporting developing countries to be involved in international development and cooperation, and expressed China’s willingness to further strengthen cooperation with the South Center by keeping close exchanges and coordination with each other on UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and assisting developing countries to achieve common development and prosperity. Mr. MKAPA said that the South Center hoped to keep on deepening South-South cooperation with China and strive for implementing UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Mr. Yang Wenchang, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and member of the Board of the South Center and Mr. Liu Zhixian, Vice-President of the UN Association of China (UNA-China) were present at the meeting.
